| Consecutive interpreting implies pauses in a speaker's speech for an interpreter to interpret the said piece. This variant suits best when you are dealing with foreign affairs and business negotiations. It requires no supporting facilities and the speakers from both parties are given time to think during the interpreting, yet, the interpreting alone will take some time in the meeting. |
SimultaneousInterpreting |
| Simultaneous interpreting is most commonly used at presentations, meetings and international conferences when an interpreter interprets for a speaker simultaneously with specialized interpreting equipment. The interpreting is normally done by two interpreters in turn through a microphone and received by audience through earphones. It will significantly enhance the efficiency of the meeting because the speaker does not need to leave time for the interpreting. However, to give simultaneous interpreting, specialized equipment is required and the interpreter must be highly qualified. |
